MARYBOROUGH ROVERS (49) def TALBOT (34)

Maryborough Rovers had a big last quarter to help preserve their finals chances, defeating a gallant Talbot by 15 goals.

The Hawks stayed with Rovers throughout the opening three quarters, but when push came to shove, Rovers were full of running to eventually finish off strongly.

It was a tight affair in the opening quarter, with Rovers edging ahead by one goal after scoring 12 goals to 11.

The second quarter saw Rovers move clear a little bit, scoring 13 goals while holding Talbot to nine to move five goals clear.

Both teams were looking for a break in the third quarter, but it proved to be a stalemate, with both teams scoring nine goals each.

But 15 goals to five in the last quarter allowed Rovers to take an important win, which leaves them one game behind eighth-placed Dunolly.

Tegan Maddern dominated proceedings for Rovers in the goal circle, scoring 42 goals, while for Talbot, Tia Skelton led the way with 19 goals, with Dom Roche adding a further 15.
