Royal Park moved a step closer to a berth into the top eight, defeating their close neighbour Maryborough Rovers in a tightly contested game at Princes Park.
The Tigers moved to within percentage of eighth-placed Newstead in the battle for the final spot in the top eight, while condemning Rovers’ to their eighth loss of the season.
The margin was no greater than five goals at any change during the game, with Bushy starting the stronger of the two, scoring 12 goals to 10 to open up a two-goal lead at the first change.
The second quarter was an extremely tight tussle, with both teams scoring 10 goals to see Bushy hold a 22-20 lead at half time.
Bushy once again edged out Rovers in the third quarter, scoring 11 goals to 10 to ensure they’d take a 33-30 lead at the final change.
With their season on the line, Rovers threw everything at Royal Park to try to secure their third win, but it was to no avail as Bushy outscored Rovers 14-12 in the final quarter to end up winning 47-42.
Best on court for the victorious Tigers were Lucy Morcom, Abbey Devereaux and Alisha Hovey, with Morcom scoring 25 goals and Devereaux 22.
For Rovers, Ebony Raven, Jacqui Christie and Julia Anderson were their best players, while Abbey Raven led the way in front of goal with 22 goals.
