The group attended in hi-vis yellow and orange jackets rallying for better safety in the car park, chanting at oncoming cars, shoppers and supermarket staff.

The protesters gathered around with construction cones next to a pile of chained Coles and Kmart trolleys, to draw attention to the large hole that has formed near the Burns Street exit.

Protest organiser Noelle Mason said even if protesting doesn’t ensure a solution to the hole, safety provisions need to be put in place to prevent further damages.

“By protesting we are trying to protect the community, we are trying to prevent anything from happening, we don’t want to hear that anyone has been hit or injured,” she said.

Members of the group said despite numerous complaints to council and supermarket management, the hole hasn’t been properly fixed.

“Because of where it is, nothing has been attended to, traffic stops, it backs up and it’s a hazard,” Ms Mason said.

“If they won’t fill the hole, this space needs a review to make it safer, we need signage and even a speed limit to prevent something from happening.

“It’s for the safety of this car park, it really is at risk, we’ve got to stop tolerating this.”
