Set up on High Street, this store is the chain’s first local outlet, with the nearest one previously located 60 kilometres away, near Bendigo.

According to a spokesperson from The Reject Shop, the new store in Maryborough bridges an important gap.

“Our mission at The Reject Shop is to help all Australians save money, and saw that this was an underserved community,” they said.

“…we’re pleased to be able to bring discounts a little closer to the Maryborough region.”

Shoppers can expect to see reduced prices across a range of products including big-name brands such as Cadbury, Dove, Pepsi, Omo, Finish, Scrub Daddy, and Schmackos.

“We’re looking forward to helping the local Maryborough community lower their weekly shopping bill,” the spokesperson said.

“By making The Reject Shop your first stop before heading to other supermarket stores, you can expect significant savings across household essentials and seasonal products especially in the lead up to Christmas.

“We currently have our Christmas range in store where you’ll find unique decorations and gifts for the whole family — pets and all.”

On the shelves are more than just discounts — with the store’s unveiling also creating avenues for employment.

“Our new store in Maryborough will provide up to a dozen jobs to local community members and will offer significant savings to shoppers,” the spokesperson added.

It is understood that a number of full-time, part-time, and casual positions will be made available to locals.

The Reject Shop Maryborough is located on 61-63 High Street and will be open most days from around 9 am to 5.30 pm.
