Redbacks to tackle Darley

The Carisbrook Lady Redbacks had plenty of heart on Sunday, and while it was a milestone match for the club, unfortunately it wasn’t enough to best Redan.

The Redbacks took to their home ground on Sunday with enthusiasm, knowing the match marked captain Olivia Butler’s 100th for the club.

Opening the floodgates and pouring through with 163 points unmatched by Carisbrook, a powerful Redan outfit didn’t share the Redback’s outlook for the match.

Redan were relentless across all four quarters of footy, barraging Carisbrook’s defence throughout.

A 6.4 first quarter and 40-point lead quickly grew out to a 77-point advantage for Redan by half time, with the side turning the dial further in the second half, more than doubling the scoreline.

Despite the undoubtedly tough day for the Redbacks, their defensive pressure saw almost half of Redan’s forays into the forward 50 result in behinds, with the final scores reading 24.19.163.

Sarah Lynch, Emme Johnson, Maddison Smith and Danae Every fought hard all day for Carisbrook and were named in the best.

The Lady Redbacks will look to continue applying pressure and better utilise their disposals when they take the fight out of town this weekend to face the ladder leader Darley.
