Despite Carisbrook winning their sixth game in succession, the Redbacks have dropped to second on the ladder, just behind Natte Bealiba by a very slim percentage margin.

Carisbrook appeared to have the upper hand at half time leading by 17 points, and again at three-quarter time, the lead was 21 points in their favour.

But you can never count out the Grasshoppers, as they stormed home in the final quarter with seven scoring shots to one, which resulted in a goal to Jack Tenace.

Scoring in the final term was proving difficult as Jackson Bowen was repelling everything, but the Grasshoppers managed a way through and kicked three behinds in succession before Daniel Reading kicked true to make it a two-goal game.

This was answered late in the term by a goal for Carisbrook’s Jack Tenace from a 50-metre penalty that took him to the goal square, and the result appeared to be in the Redbacks’ favour.

Time-on saw the Grasshoppers’ Sam Rickard and Zak Varley goal in the dying stages, but they could only get the score to within five points before the final siren blew to end a thrilling game.

Carisbrook’s new recruit from Tyntynder, Luke Jones, was named as their best player in his second game of the season, while Bowen, Ricky Pearson, Lachlan Hull, Tom Gardham and Mitch Treacy also performed admirably in the exciting victory, with Pearson, kicking three goals.

Ollie Notting led the way for Navarre, along with Brady Tillig, Rickard, Jayden Fowkes, Dustin Holmes and Daniel Reading, with Rickard and Tillig kicking two goals.
