After their incredible drought-breaking victory, Carisbrook will look to take their good form right up to Redan this week.
It was a win a long time in the making, although it was certainly no fluke.
The Lady Redbacks had a powerful first half which saw them generate many scoring opportunities thanks to a hard-working midfield, with the likes of Anika Munn, Olivia Butler and Sherriden Byrne working hard to provide the forwards with strong opportunities, which yielded four goals in the end.
That was enough to see the Lady Redbacks home by 14 points, but the next challenge is to build on that win and take it up to the ladder leaders.
The club has met the Lions on two occasions this year.
In round five, the Lady Redbacks were extremely impressive when they were able to score two goals in a 98-point loss.
The return game in round seven saw the Lady Redbacks play at home for the first time after redevelopment of the facilities were completed, with Redan proving too strong and winning by 133 points.
In the meantime, the under 16s are still a slim chance for finals, but will need to put in a big effort to defeat the sixth-placed Ballarat Swans this week.
After losing to them by 55 points to open their season, the club have improved greatly in recent weeks, although they were no match for second-placed Bacchus Marsh on Sunday.
The Lady Redbacks went scoreless throughout, while the Cobras kicked nine goals after half time to blow the margin out to 91 points.
Nevertheless, Laylah Smith, Imogen Raats, Maddison Smith, Ella Crofts, Rhiannon Carter and Tamika Loone-Grundy gave their all throughout the morning.
