Redbacks fight hard
Multiple goals from captain Olivia Butler and Sherriden Byrne were the highlights for the Carisbrook Lady Redbacks in their 70-point loss to the East Point Dragons.
With the Redbacks struggling with player unavailability on their trip to White Flat, the Dragons lent the Redbacks multiple players to ensure a game was played on Sunday.
The Lady Redbacks were keen to build off their competitive loss to the Darley Devils and they did just that with a fantastic first half.
Bulter and Byrne rewarded the Redbacks’ efforts with two goals each, as Carisbrook trailed East Point by just 10 points at half time.
After being severely challenged in the first half, the Dragons started to fly away from the Lady Redbacks in the third quarter, kicking six goals for the term.
The Lady Redbacks regrouped at three quarter time, as the Dragons were limited to three goals in the final term to finish on 14.12.96 to Carisbrook’s 4.2.26.
Goals from Bulter and Byrne earned them a deserving spot in the best players alongside Charlotte Metters and Jade Cameron.
The Lady Redbacks will prepare for another road trip to Ballarat on Sunday to face the Redan Lions at Western Oval.
Carisbrook has taken noticeable steps since their 163-point loss to Redan in round three, and will be keen to improve that deficit this weekend.
