The local Red Cross unit hosted a fashionable fundraiser on May 8, with the Maryborough Harness Racing Club’s hall dolled up into a runway for the day.
An afternoon of many celebrations, the event marked World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day as well as Mother’s Day — all while raising money for the not-for-profit.
With raffles, stalls and displays, the ultimate showstopper of the program was the Eileen Frock Salon Fashion Parade.
Supported by owner and Red Cross member, Margaret Lovett, the show saw a number of local models donning outfits from the shop, much to the delight of the 118 attendees.
Maryborough Red Cross president Jan Williamson said she was pleased with the reception of the event.
“We sold out all seats so it’s great to know that there’s so much support for Red Cross,” she said.
“I think we’ve raised over a thousand dollars and we’re thrilled to bits.
“Any amount that we can raise, big or small, it all goes to a good cause — the money we’ve collected will stay in town and help with the local patient transport service.”
