There was great news for Maryborough martial arts instructors Heather and Brian Carr recently, having upskilled through their acceptance into the first Australian-held International Taekwondo Masters Course.

Both Heather and Brian were accepted into two courses, which included the Masters Course and the Taekwondo Poom-Dan Promotion Test Examiner course, with sessions held in Sydney throughout February and Melbourne in September.

The courses were conducted by the World Taekwondo Academy, which was supported by Australian Taekwondo and facilitated by Korean Grand Masters from Kukkiwon.

In further exciting news, Brian’s performance in Melbourne throughout September saw him become one of only 10 Masters to accept a diploma for his performances, which came after he had recovered from major surgery just prior to the event.

The diploma was awarded by Lee Dong-Sup, who is the president of Kukkiwon, and he was also awarded a special Kukkiwon watch.

Heather and Brian have updated their accreditation to allow them to conduct black belt gradings that are part of the Taekwondo and Kukkiwon requirements.
