Historic 1950s era vehicles as well as makes and models to suit everyone’s fancy will make their way to the Natte Yallock Recreation Reserve this weekend as part of the Pyrenees Historic Vehicle Muster.

Organised by the Pyrenees Historic Vehicle Club, the event is a reimagination of the club’s Motor De Pyrenees event which was last held in 2019, with the 2020 event cancelled due to COVID-19.

The club’s Marg Pilgrim said the event has been rebranded and will be more low-key than previous years.

“We had to cancel the 2020 event a week out because of the COVID-19 restrictions and we had a couple of goes at rescheduling it but it just didn’t work out,” she said.

“The committee decided we’d have another attempt at getting the event up and running this year.

“Because it has been a couple of years since we last held an event like this we are stripping it back to the basics and going from there.

“This is a chance for local car club members to get together and the community to come out and have a great day.”

Continuing the theme of previous events, Ms Pilgrim said the theme for this year’s event will be 1950s, however all makes and models are welcome.

“Our focus for this year is 1950s but all vehicles are welcome,” she said.

“We are encouraging our members to bring something a bit different if they’ve got more than one vehicle and in past years, we’ve had members bring trucks, motorbikes and utes so there will be something for everyone.”

Ms Pilgrim said while the event may not be as big as previous events, she’s expecting a strong turnout.

“In previous years we’ve had 350 to 400 people come along, so we’re hopeful for around 200 given it has been some time since we’ve held the event,” she said.

The Pyrenees Historic Vehicle Muster will take place this Sunday, March 19 at the Natte Yallock Recreation Reserve with display car entry at 8 am and public from 9.

Food vendors and a coffee van will be available on-site.
