Carisbrook were no match for a powerful Redan team on Sunday, losing by 154 points.

The Lions showed no mercy throughout the afternoon, as evidenced by bringing VFLW players Lori Stepnell and Zoe Larkins into their team for the game, allowing them to dictate terms throughout the entirety of the afternoon.

A brave Carisbrook outfit never gave up, and it was only really the last quarter where the Lions put the foot down.

Redan kicked six goals to no score in the opening term to lead by 39 points, and this was matched in the second quarter when they again kicked six goals to no score to double their lead to 78 points.

The Lady Redbacks had an extremely positive third quarter, restricting the Lions to just four goals as the margin sat at 105 points at the final change.

But, fired up by their inability to hit the scoreboard to the same extent as they did in the first half, the Lions came out breathing fire in the last term, kicking eight goals to extend their lead beyond 150 points.

Anika Munn provided toughness and a physical presence in the midfield, and she was named Carisbrook’s best. Olivia Butler, Sarah Mannes, Danae Every, Ebony Ralph and Jasmine Samson were also in the Lady Redbacks’ best players.

With the Carisbrook men’s team enjoying the week off this week, the Lady Redbacks will take centre stage on Saturday afternoon, hosting Darley.
