A potential housing development in Tullaroop Road, Maryborough is up for sale and could help to ease local housing shortages, with permits for 19 dwellings on the site approved.
A planning permit for the site at 4-6 Tullaroop Road was granted by the Central Goldfields Shire Council in May, with the more than 5000m2 vacant site listed for sale on realestate.com last week.
According to the listing, it’s estimated the 19 dwellings would generate between $350-380 per week — with an annual return of around $360,000.
The planning application for the dwellings states the development will consist of 19 single storey buildings with associated parking and communal space, with four dwellings to front Tullaroop road and the remainder positioned to the rear of the site.
The dwellings will each be two-bedroom units with one car parking space along the driveway, with three visitor spaces also allocated for.
Each dwelling will be provided with a secluded open space area of 42 square metres or greater and a communal open space area with a barbecue shelter is proposed, as well as a separate communal area.
Council’s general manager infrastructure, assets and planning Matthew Irving said under the provided permits, any development at the site must commence within three years.
“Council issued a planning permit in May 2023 for use and development of the land for 19 dwellings and a 19 lot subdivision with creation of common property and associated buildings and works,” he said.
“The development works at the site must commence within three years from the date the permit was issued.”
