Pools open in the Pyrenees
Pool season in the Pyrenees Shire has kicked off, with swimming pools in the district, including Avoca, now open for summer.
Pyrenees mayor Tanya Kehoe said the shire’s much-loved facilities in Beaufort, Avoca and Landsborough are looking fantastic and ready to welcome swimmers of all ages.
Cr Kehoe said all three pools passed their Life Saving Victoria pool safety assessments with flying colours thanks to council staff and facility manager Belgravia Leisure’s hard work.
“We know the Pyrenees community loves our pools, and council staff and Belgravia work really hard to ensure residents have the best facilities possible to enjoy over summer,” she said.
“This season will be Belgravia Leisure’s fourth managing our pools, providing qualified lifeguards and organising events, and council really appreciates their efforts."
The pools will remain open until March 10, 2025, the Labour Day long weekend.
Pools will not open if the predicted temperature the night before is forecasted to be less than 20 degrees, on days declared Code Red, or days on which extreme weather is forecast.
Admission prices for the 24/25 pool season are:
Adult — $7
Child — $5
Concession — $6
Family — $15
Season passes range from $54 for children to $88 for a family pass.
Each pool will be open from different times, with the Avoca pool open from 11 am until 7 pm on weekends, school holidays and public holidays and 1 to 7 pm during the school term.
Belgravia Leisure is working on a range of fun summer events for people of all ages, with residents encouraged to keep an eye on the pools’ Facebook pages for details, where further opening times can also be found.
