Police are investigating a break in at Avoca’s IGA last week where two thieves smashed through the businesses front door.

Two unknown offenders smashed the glass front door of the building at around 4 am last Tuesday, May 2.

It’s understood the break in set off the store alarm, with both individuals leaving the scene in a dark coloured Holden Commodore wagon.

It’s believed blood at the scene may belong to one of the offenders.

Store manager Travis Moschetti said the incident was disappointing, however the thieves were unable to steal anything.

“It’s a case of two silly people deciding they wanted to break in and get something and they ended up leaving with nothing,” he said.

“It’s a good outcome that they weren’t able to take anything, but it’s disappointing it happened and we’ve been left with the clean up.”

Investigations into the break in are ongoing and any witnesses or anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime-Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
