A 63-year-old Dunolly man has died in hospital following a collision with a kangaroo.

The local postmaster, Michael Rayson, was travelling southeast along McKinnon Road when his motorcycle struck a kangaroo around 6.45 am on April 2.

Mr Rayson was taken to hospital but later died on April 9.

Police are investigating the fatal collision and will prepare a report for the Coroner.

This is the first fatal collision in the Goldfields PSA since 2023.

As of print deadlines, there have now been 84 lives lost on Victoria’s roads so far this year, five less than the same time last year.
