UPDATE:
Due to unfavourable conditions the Avoca – Rifle Range Planned Burn has been postponed for today.

EARLIER:

A planned burn is scheduled to get underway today near the Avoca Rifle Range, and residents may be able to see smoke in the region.

Forest Fire Management Victoria and CFA have advised the fuel reduction burn will take place over 23.66 hectares, less than a kilometre from the Avoca township.

The burn is expected to be completed between 10 am and 6 pm today, November 3.

Smoke may be visible up until Tuesday, November 7 from areas including Avoca, Percydale, Riversdale, Lamplough, Rathscar West, Homebush, Moores Flat and surrounds.

If you are experiencing any symptoms that may be due to smoke exposure, the Department of Health and Human Services advises that you should seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on 1300 606 024.

FFMVic Staff will be patrolling this burn until it is declared safe.

Burns may be rescheduled at any time in response to changes in weather and forest conditions.
