For the first time in four years photographic art came back to Moonambel in November with more than 170 entrants in the Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder exhibition and competition.
Hosted by the Moonambel Arts and History Group (MAGH), the photography competition ran over November 12 and 13 with 159 adult entries and 12 entries from children 12 years and under.
“The judges had a difficult time choosing the winners and complimented the exhibition on the quality of the photographs entered,” Moonambel Arts and History Group secretary Jennifer MacKay said.
“Some of the comments included eye-catching, fun, stunning, quirky, and cute, and there were comments reflecting the craft of photography included well cropped, sharp focus and clarity.”
The best in show winner was Shirley Thorn with her photo ROSE and the children 12 years and under winner was SELF PORTRAIT by Felix Morgan Waters.
The people’s choice most popular winner was FAIRY WREN IN FLIGHT by Helen Yuille, while people’s choice for most humorous was a dead heat between BABY YODA by Andrea Castleman and AH by Jan Gray.
Ms MacKay said the exhibition has kick started the MAGH’s arts and history program for 2023.
