Summer is back and all pools in the Pyrenees have now reopened, with warm weather on the weekend making for a perfect start to the pool season.

Beaufort and Avoca pools are open from 11 am to 7 pm on weekends, public holidays and school holidays, 1 pm to 7 pm Monday to Friday (non-school holidays), and 6.30 am to 8 am for lap swimming on Tuesdays and Thursdays (subject to lifeguard availability).

The opening hours at Landsborough will be 1 pm to 7 pm weekends, public holidays and school holidays, and 3 pm to 7 pm Monday to Friday (non-school holidays).

Swimming is beneficial for total health and wellbeing including weight loss, increased strength and muscle definition, flexibility, reduced stress and more.

With fun and engaging events set to happen at pools in the shire in the near future, residents are being urged to keep their eyes on the calendar.

Pyrenees Shire CEO Jim Nolan said council had made significant upgrades to the shire’s swimming pools.

“Some of the main improvements include the installation of a mobility lift at the Beaufort Pool and the new car park at the Avoca Pool,” he said.

“The grass area at the Beaufort Pool has also had some tender loving care.

“The mobility lift, purchased by the Beaufort Friends of the Pool, enables injured or disabled people to swim and exercise.”

This will be Belgravia Leisure’s second season with managing the shire’s pools. Belgravia has a wealth of experience in managing pool facilities and is currently seeking both junior and senior lifeguards for the season.

Admission prices for all Pyrenees pools this summer are: adult $5, child $3, concession $4 and entry for families is $12. Season passes: adult $73, child $49, concession $52, family $81.

The pools will remain open until the end of March, 2023.

Please note that the pools will not open if the predicted temperature the night before is forecasted to be less than 20 degrees, on days declared Code Red, or with extreme weather.
