There was a big cause for celebration for former Maryborough local Aidan Hare as he made his senior debut for the WAFL’s Peel Thunder on Saturday, with the Thunder marking the occasion with a four-point victory over West Perth at Pentanet Stadium.

Hare’s debut was very much worth the wait for the ball-winning midfielder, who was able to earn his spot in the team thanks to strong performances in the reserves, which saw him collect 37 disposals against Swan Districts, 29 disposals against South Fremantle and 27 disposals against Claremont.

Saturday’s performance against the Falcons showed Hare is very much comfortable at the senior level as he immediately showed his worth alongside Fremantle-listed AFL players such as Will Brodie, Ethan Hughes and Matt Taberner.

Hare’s two-way game was on spectacular display, collecting 16 disposals, while more importantly laying a game-high 13 tackles, showing all the hallmarks of the form which helped him earn a spot on

Peel Thunder’s list after such strong form for Maryborough at Bendigo Football Netball League level.

Hare also had three inside 50s as he showed his capability to help the Thunder maintain top spot on the ladder, with the win helping them maintain a one-game gap over East Perth.

On the back of such a performance, Hare will be favoured to keep his spot in the team when the Thunder host Subiaco next week at Lane Group Stadium as they look to maintain their good run.
