Maryborough SES members assessed vehicle damage following Monday’s collision.

Emergency services attended a two vehicle collision at the intersection of High and Kars streets, Maryborough on Monday.

Police, paramedics, the Maryborough Fire Brigade and Maryborough SES unit were called to the intersection at 12.30 Monday afternoon to initial reports of a person trapped inside their vehicle.

Upon arrival, the drivers of both vehicles were uninjured, with the accident caused by a probationary driver in a black Holden Cruze failing to stop on the Kars Street side of the intersection and colliding with a white Mazda CX5.

Central Goldfields Highway Patrol Leading Senior Constable Anthony Passalick said the elderly driver of the Mazda was taken to the Maryborough Hospital for observation and urged all drivers to follow designated road rules.

“If you aren’t able to see an intersection clearly, slow down, stop and check both ways,” he said.

“If there is a stop sign at an intersection, it’s there for a reason and that signage needs to be followed.”
