Maryborough Football Netball Club held its night of nights last Thursday, honouring the best of the bunch from the 2023 season.
While senior players learned their fate during the club’s vote count held at the end of August, Thursday was a night of celebration as players were awarded their best and fairest medals, and long-serving members were recognised for their efforts around the club.
Amanda Durbridge claimed the A grade honours, threatened by long-time leader Tori Chandler early on before injury slowed her down — Durbridge was awarded the medal by just one vote ahead of Chandler.
The senior best and fairest was also a close affair between Joel Swatton and Kya Lanfranchi, but Swatton had put it all on the line in his first season at the club and took home the win.
Club awards on the night also recognised members away from the court and field — Ellie Leishman was named Netball Club Person, Kya Lanfranchi received the Richard Peart Memorial Players’
Player Award and the AG Leech Meritorious Service Award.
The Richard Giles Memorial First Year Reserves Player was Daniel Leahy, the Don Ferguson Memorial award went to Taj Bond in the footy and Ella Patten in the netty.
Junior Club Person was awarded to Molly Palmer and Ruby Adams, Senior Club Person was received by the Stewart family.
