Newstead stand tall with 118-point win over Lexton
Newstead further strengthened its position among the MCDFNL’s premiership contenders with a dominant 118-point victory over Lexton at Newstead Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

The Steaders were challenged early by a determined Tigers outfit before gradually taking control of the contest and producing another devastating second-half performance to run away with the win.

The contest remained competitive during the first half as Lexton continued to battle hard.
Justin Kennedy, Tynan Haintz, and Josh Carey were influential around the contest, but Newstead’s class began to show as the Steaders added six goals in the second quarter to establish a 34-point lead at the main break.
Any hopes of a Lexton fightback disappeared after half time as Newstead completely dominated proceedings.
The hosts piled on eight goals in the third quarter while restricting the Tigers to just one major, blowing the margin out to 79 points by the final change.
The Steaders finished with another six goals in the final term while holding Lexton scoreless to complete another comprehensive victory.

He was superbly supported by Lincoln White, Joel Smith, Sam Winnard, Liam O’Brien, and Hayden Hall as the Steaders showcased their impressive depth.
Goals were shared throughout the Newstead line-up, with Liam O’Brien and Sam Winnard each finishing with four majors.
