In what was expected to be the game of the round, Newstead had other ideas as they dominated the game to win comfortably by 63 points, moving into the top four in the process.
Dunolly kicked the opening goal of the game through Lloyd Needs kicking against the breeze, but it was quickly answered by Tyler James. The Steaders settled better with the breeze to kick four more goals for the quarter to lead at quarter time by 20 points.
The Eagles may have expected to come back when kicking with the breeze, but the Steaders running players such as Anthony Robins, Rhys Smith and Heath Lawrence kept running the ball out of the middle and the Eagles were chasing tail as Newstead led at half time by 35 points.
The Eagles were quick to post the first goal of the second half from the opening bounce when Hamish Richards goaled on the run.
However, Oscar Lynzaat answered immediately from the next centre bounce to quell the Eagles energy and another goal to Lynzaat five minutes later had Newstead up and about.
The Steaders slotted another seven goals to make it a nine-goal quarter to put the game out of reach at three-quarter-time.
Two goals in two minutes from Angus Mayes, including one where he punched the ball forward from a marking contest, then took the handball off coach Joel Smith and finished it off with a left foot snap, was an inspiring piece of play.
Newstead coasted to the line in the final quarter, allowing the Eagles to outscore them, but the damage had already been done as the Steaders posted a big win.
Robins had the ball on a string for the visitors, and others to play well were Mayes, Lynzaat, with his four goals, Lawrence, Smith, and Harrison McGuire.
Dunolly named Bailey Goodwin, Richards, Lachlan Tranter, and Nathan Murphy as their better players for the game.
