Adventure Bingo is back in the Central Goldfields, with residents encouraged to get out and active while participating in the Healthy Loddon Campaspe initiative.
First running in Maryborough in 2020, the current Adventure Bingo trail is located in Dunolly — alongside five other locations across Loddon Campaspe including Maldon.
The challenge sees residents pick up a hard copy of the bingo cards or head online, ticking off items along the trail.
The cards include points of interest and once participants have spotted three items in a vertical, horizontal or diagonal line, they’ve got Bingo.
According to data from the Active Living Census, walking is the most popular form of physical activity in the local region and Healthy Loddon Campaspe coordinator Alicia O’Brien said Adventure Bingo plays on that popularity, encouraging physical activity.
“It also provides residents and visitors alike with a free, self-guided opportunity to explore walks in our region at any time that suits them,” she said.
“The 2022 Australian Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Young People indicated that whilst most children and young people in Australia have access to public open spaces such as parks and playgrounds, just one quarter are meeting the national physical activity guidelines for their age.
“We hope that by encouraging people to participate in Adventure Bingo, it will provide a fun, free reason for children and families to be more physically active.”
To sweeten the deal, Healthy Loddon Campaspe is giving residents the chance to win one of 50 $20 sports store gift cards via a series of prize draws. Entries are open from now until May 5, with five weekly draws starting from April 11. To enter the draw, complete Bingo online.
The Dunolly trail is approximately 1.7 kilometres, starting at the Dunolly Visitor Centre on the corner of Broadway and Bull Street.
Hard copy maps and Bingo cards are available for free at Dunolly’s library, primary school, kindergarten and bakery, plus at the Maryborough Library. Residents can also participate online by scanning the QR code below:
