The number of COVID-19 cases in Victoria is continuing to steady, with a further 5550 cases confirmed by the Department of Health yesterday.
While new cases are cropping up each day, the total number of active cases across the state is gradually falling, from the most recent peak of 71,309 on July 23 to below 40,000 this week.
New daily cases are also declining gradually from the more than 50,000 new cases recorded in early January, to sit around 6000 new daily cases state-wide for the past week.
Locally, the Central Goldfields Shire recorded seven new cases, bringing the shire’s total to 3656.
In the Pyrenees Shire, there are now 45 active cases after a further nine were recorded yesterday, while the Hepburn Shire saw 12 new cases to bring their total to 73.
The Mount Alexander Shire also saw 23 new cases recorded to bring their total active to123.
The larger regional centres of Ballarat and Bendigo continue to see a higher number of new cases, with Ballarat recording 124 new cases and Bendigo 104, bringing their total active cases to 759 and 749 respectively.
