Maryborough will look to move back within striking distance of the top four when they play winless Golden Square on Saturday.
Getting a win would be incredibly important for the Magpies, given the challenge that awaits after this, in unbeaten Sandhurst.
However, the focus must remain on the Bulldogs at this stage, particularly given teams around them have been able to put the Bulldogs to the sword this season.
At the moment, Golden Square are conceding 78 goals per game, and Maryborough will be keen to get on the scoreboard this week.
Although Kyneton held them to 43 goals last week, there were some positive signs, particularly after the main break, where a slight change allowed Keely Hare to move into goal attack where she could roam up the court a little bit more, and was rewarded with 20 second-half goals.
Tali Chadwick’s form across wing attack has also been a major positive for Maryborough so far this season, and she was one of the Magpies’ better players last week.
Looking at previous form, Maryborough won their 2022 clashes against Square, but had to work for their wins.
In round three, Maryborough had to fight tooth and nail with the Bulldogs, but a 12-7 final quarter allowed them to clear away and take a 41-28 win.
In round 12, the Magpies revelled in scoring the most goals for the season when they put 74 past the Bulldogs, which resulted in a 23-goal victory.
Maryborough’s netballers will be looking for a repeat of their round three results, which saw their A grade, B grade, B reserve and 17 and under team all take wins.
More to the point, their 17 and under team will be looking to make it five wins in a row to start the season, as they have a top four match up with a Golden Square team that they successfully eliminated in the finals last season.
A fifth consecutive win would set up a blockbuster clash between themselves and Sandhurst next week.
