Neighbourhood Watch for Dunolly
Dunolly locals are coming together this Wednesday to see if a neighbourhood watch is for them.

The first meeting, which will inform local residents on the system and gauge community interest, will be held at the Dunolly Town Hall Wednesday, June 4, from 6.30 to 7.30 pm.
Neighbourhood Watch Victoria is a community-run not-for-profit organisation which aims to help people connect with their neighbours and improve community safety.
Spurred on by a series of break ins and damage in her local community, organiser Allison Sexton hopes a neighbourhood watch will offer a support structure to keep the community connected.
“We’ve got so much for a little town but you can’t take anything for granted. It’s really the people that make a town and keep everything alive,” she said.
While she doesn’t have attendance numbers, Ms Sexton said she believes the first meeting will be well attended.
“I kind of feel like I’m pushing an open door,” she said.
The first meeting will have a presentation from a Neighbourhood Watch Victoria representative on how it works and the systems strengths. The local senior constable will also give a short presentation on the benefits of coming together as a group and how it can help him in his work.
Ms Sexton encourages everyone in the community to attend. Residents can register by emailing members@nhw.com.au with ‘Dunolly’ in the subject line or just show up on the night.
“I’m hoping with this a few fresh faces come forward and throw their hat in and give a hand,” she said.
