Navarre takes commanding win over Lexton
Old Lexton League rivals Navarre and Lexton met at the Lexton Recreation Reserve on Saturday with the Tigers going in as slight favourites, but the Grasshoppers surprised them to win by 68 points.
Navarre got off to a flying start to kick three opening quarter goals while keeping the Tigers to just two behinds.
Navarre again dominated possession in the second quarter and led at halftime by 25 points.
Lexton fought back in the third term, but inaccuracy was costly, and Navarre maintained the upper hand going into the final quarter, leading by 35 points.
It was plain sailing for the visitors in the final term as Lexton could only manage two behinds while Navarre had ten shots on goal for a five-goal and five behind final stanza.
Riley Bibby had a day out with five goals for Navarre to be amongst the best players along with Brady Tillig, Bradley Carter, Sam Rickard, Wil Clough and Fletcher Douglas, who also slotted three goals.
Dylan Bourke kicked Lexton’s only two goals for the game to be amongst the best players along with Aiden Broughton, Tom McGregor, Lachy Rokebrand and Will Brand.
