Navarre strike the winning list over Giants
Navarre has posted their first victory of the season in extremely hot conditions when they toppled an inaccurate Maryborough Giants by 13 points.

The opening term was the most exciting of the game when the lead changed hands on six occasions.
It was goal for goal for the entire term, with seven goals scored. Fletcher Douglas, the focal point for Navarre, scored two goals, while Matt Johnson created plenty of run for the Giants and kicked a great goal on the run from a turnover in Navarre’s defensive half.
The Grasshoppers led by three points at the first change.
In comparison to the first term, it was a very dull second term as the home team was the only team to score goals, with Daniel Reading and Riley Bibby managing to split the big sticks, and the Grasshoppers held the Giants to just two behinds for the term.
Matt Johnson kicked the first goal of the second half with a kick of the ground in the goal square, but Navarre’s Sam Rickard was quick to answer with a miraculous running goal from tight on the boundary line, which was followed by another later in the term to Rickard and Douglas kicked his third.
The game seemed to be in the bag as the Grasshoppers led by twenty three points goaling into the last quarter.
Jacob Rollason outmanoeuvred his opponent in a marking contest and kicked truly for the Giants, and this was quickly followed by a flying mark to Cody Wright, who had drifted forward.
His set shot goal quickly reduced the margin to eleven points, and the game picked up on the excitement scale.
Rollason missed a couple of shots on goal, and the ball was going back and forth, and the defence of both teams stepped up until late in the dying stages, John Jok snapped truly for the Grasshoppers to seal the game for the home team.
Navarre’s best were Shannon Treloar, Jayden Fowkes, Sam Walker, Riley Bibby, Zak Varley, and Sam Rickard. am Rickard, and Fletcher Douglas kicked three goals apiece.
Giants named Cody Wright, Zayne Earl, Brandon Carter, Riley Govan, Ronnie Feeney, and Rhys Wagstaff, with Matt Johnson the only Multiple goal scorer with two goals.
