Navarre pulled away from Campbells Creek in the second half to record their first victory of the season by 18 goals.

The Hoppers had to navigate a determined Magpies outfit throughout the first half. The Hoppers were able to take the lead at quarter time, with Mollie Simpson scoring eight goals and Annabelle Price scoring four goals, while at the other end, Lillie Wrigley scored six goals, and Molly Kennedy on four occasions.

The second quarter was much of the same, with Campbells Creek continuing to keep up in what was an excellent first half for the Magpies against a 2023 finalist.

However, the Hoppers continued to creep away, with Simpson adding seven goals, and Price five goals, while Wrigley scored eight goals and Kennedy twice.

It was the third quarter where Navarre made their move, taking control of the contest through good movement in the midcourt.

Simpson scored nine goals, while Price added six more, while for Creek, Taneisha Wrigley added five goals and Kennedy one.

With the job essentially done, the Hoppers finished off strongly in the last term, scoring 13 goals to eight. Simpson added nine more goals, with Price adding two, as well as Sadie Reading, while Lillie added six goals and Tarni Williams two for Campbells Creek.

Navarre will now be hoping to make it two from two when they travel to Dunolly next week, while Campbells Creek will have the bye, before regrouping to face the challenge of Carisbrook in round three.
