Navarre had a comfortable 81-point victory over Campbells Creek at Navarre on Saturday.

It was a very tough contest in the opening term though as the Creekers came to play and there was only one point separating the teams at quarter time.

The break allowed Navarre to regroup as they came out firing with a seven-goal second term to assert their authority over the visiting team.

It was a bit more of a contest in the third term as the Hoppers could only score three goals while Creek managed to post their second major for the game, but the match was in Navarre’s hands as they again took control in the final quarter.

To Creek’s credit, it was only a second quarter fade out that made the scoreline look so impressive for the home team and the Creek supporters have some confidence to take into the rest of the season.

Navarre will also be looking forward to next week when they face an up and about Dunolly who knocked over Newstead in round one.

Navarre coach, Jack Jess, who played mostly in defence last season, was the dominant goal scorer for the Hoppers with five goals.

Youngster Oliver Notting continued his good junior form from last season when he was named as best player, while Keilor recruit, Angus Taylor also stood out for the home team, and others to play well were Jess, Baxter Cheesman, Wil Clough and Joel McNaughton.

Creek named Jamie Benbow, Harrison Barnes, Ryan Dzioba, Dakota Slingo and Mitch Stevens as their better players with three singular goalkickers.
