Three wins was what Navarre managed throughout the entirety of 2022. But this is a seemingly different Hoppers outfit this season, as they’ve already matched that tally after four rounds thanks to an 11-goal win over Royal Park.
A fast start allowed the Hoppers to hold sway throughout the game, and they were able to answer every challenge Bushy threw at them during the afternoon.
Thirteen goals to seven in the opening stanza saw the Hoppers open up a six-goal lead at the first break, and they were able to hold it during the second quarter, with both teams scoring eight goals each.
The Hoppers made their big move in the third quarter, scoring 13 goals, while holding Royal Park to just four, to have an all-but unassailable 15-goal cushion at the last break.
Bushy were able to bring back the margin a little bit, scoring nine goals to five in the last, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Hoppers from keeping in touch with the top four.
Darcy Crawford led the way with 22 goals for Navarre, ably supported by Erin Chisholm with 17.
For Royal Park, Abbey Devereaux and Jess Egan scored 14 times apiece.
