Natte Bealiba’s home ground knowledge and use of a tricky wind to their advantage paid dividends in their clash against Lexton, winning by 37 points.

The game was played in a breeze which rendered many shots on goal sideways in the early stages, but after it died down towards the end of the day, the Swans were able to control the game.

It was an intriguing start to the afternoon as Lexton had plenty of the play, and looked to make a game of it early. However, they weren’t quite able to take advantage of their good ball use across the ground, and kicked six straight behinds.

Natte Bealiba weren’t much better, but the key for the Swans was their ability to still hit the scoreboard regardless. They were able to kick two goals from seven scoring shots to lead by 11 points at the first change.

Things were a bit more free-flowing in the second term, and it proved to be one of the best offensive quarters of the day. The Swans kicked three goals, while Lexton kicked two, with the Swans holding an 18-point cushion at the main break.

The third quarter was a very tight affair with both teams setting different goals — the Swans looking to take the game away from the Tigers, while for Lexton, they were desperate to get back into the game. Both teams were only able to kick a goal apiece, but the Swans led by 20 points at the last change.

That was enough impetus for the Swans, who powered away in the last quarter to break the back of Lexton, kicking four goals to one in the final term to continue their excellent start to the season, holding their opposition to 31 points for a second week in succession.

Aaron Hayes was named as Natte Bealiba’s best, with Jordan Fraser, Brady Templeton, Emmet Smith, playing-coach Trent Mortlock and youngster Josh Ross also busy around the ground. Mortlock kicked three, while Bailey Jacobs added two.

Co-captain Jaykeb Lench provided plenty for Lexton, while Jack Cuttler, Pat Parr, Luke Guelen, Alex McLean and Lachlan Rokebrand were also named in the best, with four single goalkickers for the Tigers.
