Motorbike riders are being advised to hydrate and to consider heat conditions before getting on the road following a minor incident near Talbot on Monday.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of the Maryborough-Ballarat Road and Pollocks Road just before 12 pm after a motorcyclist came off his bike.

The man suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital via ambulance after what is believed to be a medical-related crash, according to police.

Central Goldfields Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Paul Schroeder said the rider was within the speed limit and had appropriate gear on.

“He wouldn’t have been speeding and he had his helmet on — it seems that he’s just overshot the intersection because he was supposed to go up Pollock’s Road,” he said.

“It’s probably going to be related to either a medical cause or heat or something along those lines.

“Particulary if you’re riding a motorbike, you need to be aware of the heat and the effect of the heat while riding in these conditions.

“Make sure you’re hydrated, make sure you’ve got appropriate gear and make sure that everything is going to get you to the destination where you’re headed to.”
