Beauty really will be in the eye of the beholder during Moonambel’s photo competition and exhibition this weekend, with two people’s choice categories to highlight the program.
The event has grown in popularity since it started in 2009 and Moonambel Arts and History Group secretary Jennifer MacKay said it is set to be bigger and better than ever this year.
“Our last event was in 2018 due to the pandemic and we’re very anxious to get back into it,” she said.
“It originally started to encourage people to participate in the arts, sometimes people think you’ve got to have a lot of skill to participate but that’s really not the case.
“We figured everyone can take a photo and by doing the exhibition and competition this way, it meant everyone could get involved and anyone could win.
“It’s also a way of showcasing the different talents and interests we have in the area. Over 170 photographs have been entered into the competition, with entries coming from as far as Nowra in New South Wales and metropolitan Melbourne.
“The response that we’ve had this year was quite unexpected and it’s great to see how eager people are to contribute to events that are happening.”
The exhibition will take place this weekend at the Moonambel Reserve Pavilion, from 9 am until 4 pm on Saturday, November 12 and 11 am until 5 pm on Sunday, November 13.
A market with 10 stallholders will also be running on Saturday from 9 am until 1 pm, with the traditional meet and mingle returning from 3 pm until 5 on Sunday, when award winners are named and raffles drawn.
The weekend will feature live music entertainment as well as a display of heritage vehicles from the Pyrenees Historic Vehicles Club, with attractions to keep the whole family entertained.
