There’s now a significant break in the midweek pennant ladder thanks to all top-four teams winning on Tuesday morning.
Highland Tartan showed no mercy on their Gold stablemates, taking a 108-33 victory which kept them 14 points clear on top.
It was a close affair on rink one, with Tartan taking a 24-20 victory, but rinks two and three allowed Tartan to rack up the first century of the season thanks to 41-7 and 43-6 wins.
Dunolly Blue kept pace thanks to a 67-57 win over a gallant Maryborough Golf.
It was Dunolly Blue who took the lead after rink one, winning 23-15, but Golf were able to bounce back on rink two, winning 26-23. With the game on the line, Dunolly Blue proved too strong on rink three, winning 21-16.
Talbot kept themselves in third place thanks to a 72-49 win over Dunolly Gold.
A close encounter on rink one saw Talbot win 18-17, but Dunolly Gold were able take control on rink two thanks to a 25-15 victory. But a 39-7 win when needed on rink three allowed Talbot to maintain a six-point gap to Avoca in third.
However, Avoca were able to make a little bit of ground thanks to a 71-49 win in which they were able to claim all 16 premiership points.
A 26-13 win on rink one gave Avoca the upper edge, before 19-18 and 26-18 wins on rinks two and three ensured Avoca would cut into Talbot’s eight-point gap.
Round eight on Tuesday will see the pick of the games prove to be top-four teams Avoca and Dunolly Blue meeting at the Avoca Country Golf Bowls Club, while Highland Tartan will look to maintain their gap on top of the ladder when they host Maryborough Golf.
Highland Gold will look to keep track with the top four when they host Dunolly Gold, while Talbot will look to maintain pace with the top two when they play Carisbrook.
