Mia Schodde gains support
The community spirit has come to the fore for Mia Schodde and her family, with many around the Maryborough and Dunolly districts helping her cause to head to New Zealand in January.

Schodde was the recipient of a $1500 donation from the Marybor-ough Lions Club on Monday, which was a key contribution to a fundraiser which has reached its target.
Mother, Mel, said she was ‘blown away’ by the community’s support.
“On behalf of Mia and myself, we would like to extend our utmost gratitude to the amazing Marybor-ough and Dunolly communities,” she said.
“Your overwhelming generosity and support with Mia’s athletics journey has completely blown us away.
“With the community’s incredible generosity, we have just about reached our goal. We feel incredibly grateful to live within such an amazing community.”
There was further good news for the Schodde family, with Member for Ripon Martha Haylett electing to sponsor Mia for her trip during the week.
Mia was provided a goodie bag full of Aussie treats in efforts to remind her of home during her big trip.
Haylett paid tribute to Mia.
“Mia is an inspiration to our community and I am so proud that the Maryborough Little Athletics is supporting our young athletes to travel the world,” she said.
“I look forward to learning about how Mia goes in Hastings and seeing what she will achieve in the future.
“It's fantastic to hear about the amount of community support behind Mia, we are with her all the way.”
