MDCA prepares for Melbourne Country Week departure
The Maryborough District Cricket Association (MDCA) is gearing up for Melbourne Country Week next week with their eyes on a top-four finish.
The MDCA will compete in division two, the same division they played last season in their comeback to Country Week after a 16 year absence.
They will look to improve from their seventh-place finish last season with their four matches in the round-robin phase providing some new opponents and exciting rematches.
The MDCA will start their campaign on Monday against a Hamilton side that finished just above the MDCA last season in sixth.
On Tuesday, the MDCA will face a familiar foe in South West at Greenvale Reserve.
Despite a brilliant 98 from South African Sergio Rosier and three wickets from Sam Bartlett and Lachlan Oddie for the MDCA, an unbeaten 106 from Eddie Lucas allowed South West to take a three-wicket victory when the two teams met last season.
The MDCA will then travel to Donvale Reserve on Wednesday to take on the 2023 top division runner up Mornington Peninsula.
Their final round-robin matchup on Thursday will be another rematch from last season, back at Greenvale Reserve versus Sunraysia.
The MDCA grabbed one of their two victories against Sunraysia in 2024 off the back of Rosier who made 88 off just 69 balls and grabbed three wickets.
