MCDFNL Round 16 Netball Preview — Campbells Creek vs Dunolly
Dunolly will look to solidify their position in the top eight when they travel to Campbells Creek this weekend.
Sitting in seventh position on the ladder, Dunolly will relish the opportunity to further build on their recent winning streak, most recently defeating Maldon and Harcourt.
Positioned 12 points clear of a ninth placed Maryborough Giants with only a few rounds left before finals is a comfortable spot to be in for Dunolly, however the four premiership points will be eyed off regardless.
The side’s first meeting with Campbells Creek in round three saw Dunolly take a comfortable 36-goal win at their home court.
The Eagles will be looking to replicate a similar result this weekend, albeit away from their home nest.
For Campbells Creek, that home advantage may prove to be the difference — with the side performing strongly in its last two home games.
While neither of these resulted in a win, Creek took it right up to the Maryborough Giants and Harcourt, showing they’re a side with plenty of fight left.
Sitting second last on the ladder with little hope of venturing into finals this season may also work to Creek’s benefit.
With nothing to lose, the side will be able to measure their tactics and individual skills against a Dunolly seemingly destined for finals. This could prove valuable for the Magpies as they assess their options in the off-season.
Creek will look to key players like Heni Moeke and Claire Jones under the net to take advantage of scoring opportunities, while Taylah Sartori and Ashleigh Coburn will need to provide leadership through the midcourt.
The Eagles will expect the impressive scoring of Lara Clements and Hannah Kenny to continue come Sunday, with Ashlee Lierich and up-and-comer Mia Schodde to assert pressure throughout.
