MCDFNL Round 15 Netball Preview — Dunolly vs Harcourt
The story of Harcourt’s fascinating mid-season turnaround hits a critical chapter this Saturday when they meet Dunolly at Deledio Reserve.
Out of context, Harcourt’s narrow 10-goal defeat to last season’s runner-up Talbot should be heralded as a major success for a team that went 3-1-12 in 2025.
However, considering a victory last weekend would’ve put the Lions level on points with Trentham in eighth after starting the year 0-8, there’s a sense of disappointment when dreaming about the alternative.
While their finals odds remain highly improbable, Harcourt can at least give themselves a fighter’s chance by avenging their nail-biting round two defeat to Dunolly.
With their team trailing by one at three-quarter time of that aforementioned contest, Lara Clements and Hannah Kenny scored 13 crucial goals in the fourth quarter to snatch victory, beginning a shooting tandem that’s been key to Dunolly’s success.
Since that result, the Lions have enjoyed the attacking talents of Jarrenhy Webb, who alongside veteran Jordan Bagley has boosted Harcourt’s offence from 11th in goals scored last year to eighth this season.
Former Nalder Tracey Trophy winner Ashlee Lierich and energetic defender Demcy Fraser will be key to the Eagles containing Bagley and Webb as they look to clinch their finals berth.
The opposite goal circle will also host another key battle as Dunolly shooters Clements and Kenny are set to be defended by Harcourt’s Laura Suckling and Carly Chaplin.
