MCDFNL Round 14 Netball Preview — Avoca vs Newstead
A journey which began with a 67-24 victory over Newstead, Avoca’s quest for a historic four-peat has so far been nothing short of perfection.

However, after tense victories over Navarre, Carisbrook and Natte Bealiba, the Bulldogs will look to make minor refinements ahead of finals during this weekend’s repeat bout with the Steaders.
Despite a sensational second quarter that turned a three-goal deficit into a five-goal lead by half time, the reigning premiers still found themselves intertwined in an enthralling battle with rivals Natte last Saturday, leading by one at the final change.
Just as they looked at their most vulnerable, Avoca showcased all the traits that have made them three-peat champions, ruthlessly capitalising on early fourth quarter takeaways with two vital 5-0 runs that clinched a nail-biting victory.
While Maddy Egan, Caitlin Drummond, Stacey Blair, Lucy Howell and Gina Steel remain key pillars of this historically excellent team, valuable depth pieces like Kodie Greenwood, who celebrated her 100th game for the club last weekend, and Paige Walkley have stepped up for the Bulldogs when called upon.
While Avoca prepares for another premiership push, Newstead will strive to end their season on a high note despite their brutal home stretch of fixtures.
Led by Amelia Britt, Emily Cooper, Brianna Jury and Shannon Lamden, the Steaders showcased they can compete with the league’s elite during the first half of their round 13 meeting with Lexton, aiming for a similarly impressive showing against the reigning premiers.
