Harcourt will be heavily favoured to procure its 11th victory of 2026 when they travel to Campbells Creek Recreation Reserve this weekend, but the Magpies will strive to make Saturday’s skirmish a competitive affair.

Before their round 12 bye, the Lions kept pace with ladder-leaders Carisbrook with a 104-point demolition of Maldon.

After Jed Rodda, Cameron Anderson, Jack Threlfall and Mitchell McKnight powered Harcourt to 13 first-half goals, defenders Billy Quirk, Jordan Gartside and Josh Taig held the Bombers goalless in the second half to complete another excellent full team performance.

Coincidentally, Campbells Creek also faced Maldon in their last encounter. Despite being without several key players, they looked poised to challenge the Bombers after trailing by a goal at quarter-time.

Dylan Stevens was electric in that opening term, playing as if there were at least four of him on the field. Isaac Fletcher, Tyson Williams and James Martinovic were also excellent for the Magpies, but a blistering second quarter was the catalyst for Maldon’s 86-point win.

As they strive to reduce those harmful lapses, Campbells Creek will call upon Michael White, Jack Carroll and Mitchell Stevens to limit easy goal-scoring chances for Harcourt’s star-studded forward line of Rodda, McKnight and Baxter Gurd.

In a contest noticeably affected by heavy downpour, the Magpies showed sustained resistance in their previous meeting with Harcourt, but couldn’t stop the Lions from securing a 54-point round 15 victory last year.
