MCDFNL Round 11 Netball Preview Harcourt vs Maldon
Flying high on back-to-back victories, Harcourt will attempt to make it three on the trot against a Maldon squad who seem on the precipice of a long-awaited victory.
It wasn’t for the faint of heart, but the Lions held their nerve during a nail-biting fourth quarter to leave the Maryborough Netball Association with a thrilling three-goal victory over the Giants.
Assisted by their teammate’s persistent defensive pressure, Jordan Bagley and Jarrenhy Webb shook off some early shooting cobwebs at the perfect time for Harcourt, sinking some game-deciding shots down the stretch.
Bagley and Webb have given the team a consistently solid offence this season after the Lions ended 2025 ranked 11th in goals scored, a formidable unit Maldon looks to slow down this Saturday.
The Bombers return from their round 10 bye with optimism after highly encouraging performances against Newstead and Maryborough.
After trailing the Giants by nine goals at half time in their last match before the bye, Eva Gross, Charlotte Harrison and Louise Clarke led a spirited comeback that drew Maldon within four goals before Maryborough pulled away late.
The battle of the midcourt will be crucial at Harcourt Recreation Reserve this weekend, with the Bombers and Lions possessing a wealth of options.
With Harrison, Claire Kelly, Rory Baker and Sophie Zammit at their disposal, Maldon’s midcourt will be an intriguing challenge for Harcourt’s Morgan Howorth, Zoe Mclean, Ursula van Dyk and Ella Rule.
