MCDFNL Round 11 Football Preview Talbot vs Newstead
One of the games of the season awaits this weekend when Talbot hosts Newstead in a clash between two of the MCDFNL’s hottest sides.
Both teams enter the contest full of confidence after impressive victories in round 10. Talbot continued its rise up the ladder with a convincing 55-point win over Natte Bealiba, while Newstead followed up its upset victory over Harcourt by dismantling Campbells Creek by 114 points.
The Hawks have become one of the competition’s most dangerous teams. Since narrowly losing to Carisbrook by just two points, Talbot has recorded impressive victories over Trentham and Natte Bealiba.
Jarrod Stephens is in outstanding form and comes into the match after kicking six goals against the Swans.
Dean Galea has added another dimension to the Hawks’ forward line, while Dylan Tarczon, Jude McGuire, Charles Aitken and Tommy Alkemade continue to provide strong leadership and experience around the ground.
Newstead, however, may be the competition’s hottest team, possessing one of the league’s most potent attacking units.
Sam Winnard continues to be a major weapon inside 50 and added another six goals last weekend, while Lachlan O’Brien, Liam O’Brien, Isaac Fofana, William Moran and Michael Dalrymple have all been key contributors to the club’s rise.
The midfield battle looms as a fascinating contest. Talbot’s experienced group led by Tarczon, McGuire and Aitken will be tested by Newstead’s hard-running brigade featuring the O’Brien brothers, Moran and Joel Smith.
