MCDFNL Round 11 Football Preview Natte Bealiba vs Dunolly
Natte Bealiba will be looking to keep its finals hopes alive when it hosts Dunolly at CHS Broadbent Oval in round 11.
After a difficult start to the season that saw the Swans lose their opening five matches, Natte Bealiba has shown significant improvement over the past month.
Victories over Campbells Creek and Maldon, combined with a competitive performance against Talbot last weekend, have demonstrated that the Swans are becoming a far more dangerous proposition.
Jai Howell has made a huge impact since returning to the side, providing drive through the midfield and proving a dangerous forward option.
He has been well supported by Aidan Medlyn, Kyen Burrill-Grinton, Jake Postle, Ryan Semmel and Stephen Ross, all of whom have played important roles in the Swans’ recent improvement.
Despite going down to Talbot by 55 points last week, Natte Bealiba remained competitive for long periods and will take confidence from returning to its home ground this weekend.
Dunolly enters the clash following a 73-point loss to reigning premiers Trentham.
While the Eagles battled hard throughout the contest, they were unable to contain Saints forward James Regan, who kicked nine goals in a dominant display.
The Eagles will once again rely heavily on Mitchell Goodwin, Lachlan Tranter, Joel Fisher, Jay McDonald and Bailey Morton to provide leadership and drive around the contest.
When Dunolly has been competitive this season, it has generally been on the back of strong midfield performances from those players.
