MCDFNL Round 11 Football Preview Carisbrook vs Avoca
Carisbrook will look to preserve their place at the pinnacle of the MCDFNL ladder when they welcome an aspiring Avoca to Carisbrook Recreation Reserve.
Coming out of their round nine bye, the Bulldogs produced an electrifying start against Navarre, with goals from Nathan Coghlan and Jordan Thomas giving them a three-point lead at quarter time.
Unfortunately for Avoca, they were unable to transfer that electricity into the second quarter, where the Grasshoppers kicked seven goals to one on their way to an 83-point victory.
Those scoring outbursts have been a worrying trend for the Bulldogs in recent weeks, allowing seven goals in the second quarter against Lexton and nine in the third term against Talbot.
The Bulldogs will need to stop those scoring sprees if they want to contend with a Carisbrook team that, despite being without key forward Harry Butler, has remained arguably the competition’s most potent attacking force.
While Tim Rinaldi is chasing a mercurial centurion campaign, currently on 65 goals in 2026, Carisbrook isn’t a one-man show inside forward 50, with Ricky Pearson, Cooper Driscoll, Thomas Gardam and Angus McKinna all able to split the big sticks.
Saturday’s clash will also showcase some of the emerging footballers who are beginning to make their name at the senior level.
Fred Davis made his senior debut last weekend alongside fellow Bulldog pups Thomas Redpath, Aidan Blair and Mitchell Wardlaw, while Harvey Rumpff, Locky Llewellyn, Ty Sanders and Hunter Kurzke have recently carved out a role in Carisbrook’s talented senior team.
