MCDFNL Round 11 Football Preview Campbells Creek vs Maryborough Giants
The Maryborough Giants will be looking to continue their impressive mid-season resurgence when they travel to Campbells Creek Recreation Reserve to take on the Magpies in round 11.
The Giants enter the clash in excellent form despite last week’s 28-point loss to Harcourt.
While the result went against them, Maryborough showed plenty of character after trailing by 44 points at three-quarter time, kicking four final-quarter goals.
Declan Wagstaff, Kaylab Eggers, Jonathon Short, Scott Miller, Jack Broad and Lachie Condie were among the Giants’ best performers, highlighting the depth that has developed within the side over recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Campbells Creek will be looking to bounce back after a difficult month that has seen losses to Trentham, Natte Bealiba and Newstead.
The Magpies remain a competitive side and have several players capable of influencing the contest. Dylan Stevens continues to lead from the front, while Isaac Fletcher, James Haber, Mitchell Stevens and Tyson Williams have been among their most consistent performers throughout the season.
One area that could prove decisive is the Giants’ ability to generate multiple scoring options through Brandon Carter, Atticus Cullinan, Karson Guareschi, Mitch Stork and Rhys Egan. The midfield battle also shapes as an important factor.
Miller and Cody Wright have been driving much of the Giants’ recent success, while Campbells Creek will look to Stevens, Fletcher and Haber to ensure the Magpies can compete around stoppages and provide quality supply to their forwards.
