MCDFNL Round 10 Netball Preview Lexton vs Carisbrook
Two of A grade’s most consistent finals contenders will meet in what’s expected to be a gripping game as Lexton plays Carisbrook.
While both teams are firmly entrenched in the top eight, the Redbacks and Tigers will enter this weekend with varying form.
Since their round two defeat to Natte Bealiba, Carisbrook have been on a rampage, extending their impressive win streak to seven with a 20-goal victory over Dunolly.
Despite heavy rainfall pelting down at Carisbrook Recreation Reserve, Abbey Nalder and Jordan Macilwain produced one of their most clinical shooting performances of the season last weekend, combining to convert 52 of their 61 shot attempts.
Meanwhile, Lexton couldn’t find an offensive rhythm against Navarre last Saturday, losing its third consecutive game after going undefeated during the first five rounds.
Unlike their other losses to Dunolly and Avoca, the Tigers struggled to be competitive against the Grasshoppers, something they’ll look to rectify when they return to Lexton Reserve.
Last season marked the first time since 2019 these two teams hadn’t faced off in finals, a stretch headlined by a sensational 2022 preliminary final.
Current key contributors Rachel Phelan and Caitlin Howell continued Lexton’s magical run to the 2022 Grand Final with a 40-33 victory over Carisbrook before the Redbacks, led by Laura Hurse and Elise Mottram, enacted their revenge the following year in the qualifying final.
