The Maryborough Castle-maine District Football Netball League (MCDFNL) has announced a shake-up to the first week of finals, with new venues to host the qualifying and elimination finals.
With finals starting on Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27, the league announced on Wednesday that finals would be taken to Camp Reserve in Castlemaine, as well as Newstead Recreation Reserve, for the first time in recent memory.
It represents a change in tact for the league, who have traditionally played finals in Maryborough at Princes Park and Hedges Oval, although finals were also taken to Avoca Recreation Reserve last season due to the condition of Hedges Oval.
With Maryborough hosting Gisborne at Princes Park on August 26, the ground was unavailable for the MCDFNL.
Princes Park will hold the remainder of the finals, starting with the semi finals, to be played on September 2 and 3, before the grand final on September 16.
All 14 clubs will feature in week one of the finals, while the league also expects in excess of 20,000 people to attend throughout the finals series.
